Wilton Youth Field Hockey

This is a clinic-based program where 3rd and 4th grade girls learn the fundamentals of the game as a group.  The group practices once during the week and on Saturday with some "Play Days" with nearby towns on some weekends.  

The goal of the 3rd & 4th Grade program is to offer young players an introduction to the sport that is both engaging and skill-based. As many will be picking up a stick for the first time, we offer a low pressure, fun and encouraging experience. As they develop across the season, more competitive game-like experiences are incorporated into the schedule. In this clinic format, coaches work together to teach the fundamentals of the game. At this level, it is important to understand that players must train in the core skills with an emphasis on safety before competitive experiences are integrated. All 3rd & 4th grade clinics are led by parent volunteer coaches. Coaches will be supported by the WYFH Program Director through coaching clinics and provided practice plans customized for each grade level of player.

Grades 3 & 4 Details:

Schedule: Historically practices have been on Thursdays after school from 2:30-3:30pm (coaches walk players from Cider Mill to practice) and Saturdays from 9-10am on WHS Stadium turf.
**We are planning this again for Fall 2025 but schedule is subject to change based on Parks and Rec and turf availability.
The season will run from  the week of Sept 1st ~ Oct 25th.

Coaching: 3rd & 4th Grade program is led by parent volunteers. 

Program Cost: Early Bird before June 15th - $300.00; After June 15th - $325.00

Uniforms: Each player will receive a reversible pinnie to wear at each practice and will keep at the end of the season.
 
Equipment: Players must provide their own stick, mouth guard and field hockey shin guards. Sneakers or turf shoes can be worn. Any player without protective gear will not be able to participate. There are no exceptions to this policy.
